Saving Historic Moorestown: 1 Mile Hessian Retreat Fun Run

🏃‍♂️ Hessian Retreat: The 1-Mile Historic Fun Run! 🏃‍♀️

Step back in time and race through history! Join us on September 27th for a one-of-a-kind 1-mile fun run inspired by the Hessian retreat from Moorestown during the Revolutionary War.

🔹 What’s the story?
In June of 1778, Hessian soldiers—hired by the British—were forced into a hasty retreat through Moorestown. Finally after 250 years runners will be able to “chase” those pesky Hessians out of town! Now, it’s your turn to reimagine history (minus the muskets and mayhem)! Throughout the Revolutionary War Hessian soldiers had been stealing local food and supplies and even burning crops and stockpiles! Runners will get a knapsack filled with “stolen” items to “return” to designated Revolutionary Era Witness Houses that they pass on the way to the finish line at Moorestown Friends School.

🔹 Why join the race?
✅ A quick, fun, and family-friendly way to experience history in motion!
✅ Run (or walk) through the same streets where history unfolded.
✅ Costumes encouraged—channel your inner Revolutionary soldier or Moorestown Quaker
✅ Support historic preservation while getting some fresh air!
